Summary of Position

This position is located in our Noblesville, Indiana location and as a Cyclotron Operator you are responsible for performing routine and non-routine cyclotron (particle accelerator) equipment operations and maintenance tasks necessary to produce, test, and package bulk radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with applicable safety and regulatory protocols. This position is part of a small shift team that must frequently work independently and with limited supervision. Responsible for the timely response to and communication of any abnormal equipment conditions and assisting with troubleshooting and repairs as necessary.  

 

Schedule

This position supports production in a 24-hour manufacturing facility and may require evenings, nights, weekends, and some holidays with occasional overtime.

Essential Functions

  • Operate Cyclotron and associated support equipment
  • Provide technical support for operational activities of the cyclotron. 
  • Assist Cyclotron Engineers with preventive maintenance and repair of cyclotron and auxiliary devices and systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems
  • Perform and document tasks associated with the production of radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with Federal and/or State guidelines in a cGMP environment
  • Perform and document quality assurance tests on laboratory instruments and radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with Federal and/or State guidelines
  • Process outbound radiopharmaceuticals according to the Department of Transportation guidelines
  • Maintain inventory and written records to ensure proper utilization of materials and accounting for applicable State radioactive material licensing and appropriate manufacturing guidelines. 
  • Perform and document radiation safety tasks including well-checks & efficiencies, room wipes & surveys, and waste management when necessary and as required. 
  • Perform general laboratory and facility clean up. 
  • Works in various levels of clean room environment
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
     

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Associate Degree in Engineering, Physics, or similar field or equivalent related experience is preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience required.
  • Experience with electronics, test equipment, and/or mechanical systems is also preferred.
  • Knowledge in the operation of a cyclotron and experience in radiopharmaceutical production preferred.
  • Technically skilled with proven ability to troubleshoot problems and interpret policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Communicates effectively with a proven ability to interpret information and follow semi-complex instructions.

 

Working Conditions

  • Willingness to work in plant producing radioactive materials and requiring all employees to participate in safety programs designed to minimize potential and/or actual exposure levels.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and move through an office environment.
  • Heavy physical exertion, including walking, standing, bending, and reaching.  
  • Must be physically able to push/pull loads up to 350 pounds.  
  • Must be able to physically lift up to 70 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to work under pressure with multiple interruptions.  
  • Ability to adhere to strict confidentiality requirements.
