Summary of Position
The Director of Operations leads and manages the group as a focused factory (FF) and has all essential functions reporting into them, including manufacturing, engineering, area maintenance, and dotted line reporting of Quality, EHS & HP and Finance.
The Director of Operations will report to the Site Director, and is accountable for the overall FF management, compliance with all regulations, customer service, production activities, technical services management, asset reliability systems, facility management and personnel management of all FF employees. You must demonstrate your ability to work well with other site functional leaders that report to other executives.
Essential Functions
- Accountable for ensuring the focused factory is compliant with all regulatory requirements which includes Quality related issues, Health, Safety and Environmental, Radiation Safety Programs, Importation, Distribution and Transportation, Hazardous Material Handling and Disposal and Facilities code.
- Must maintain operational compliance with US and international regulatory agencies and guidelines (i.e. FDA, EU, HC, TGA, PIC/S, ISO, USP, NRC, cGMP, etc.).
- Ensure internal audits are performed to continuously monitor Compliance with all aspects of FF Operations against ever-changing regulations.
- Develop specific improvement plans and budgets that move the FF from minimal compliance to a state of Regulatory Excellence.
- Accountable for the development and implementation of Reliability systems for all process and facility equipment. These continuous improvement systems utilize organizational knowledge to identify issues and track resolution of the most critical resulting in higher on-stream times and lower costs as service levels to our customers are increased.
- Deliver exceptional customer service through systems that ensure Compliance and excellent Reliability.
- Managing utility and facility support infrastructure reliability programs.
- Manage expenditures to drive the financial performance and exceed the established financial target.
- Strategic maintenance and growth planning and managing the resulting Capital projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in one of the sciences is required, advanced degree preferred.
- 15 or more years of relevant experience managing operations with a demonstrated track record of exceeding expectations of financial, manufacturing and customer service metrics
- Experience in driving Compliance with all local, state, national and international regulatory bodies, e.g. FDA, NRC, OSHA, EPA, etc. through continuous improvement programs
- Demonstrated track record of Safety management to protect all employees, contractors, visitors and the community
- Experience in overall supply chain management to deliver exceptional customer service with the highest level of On Time In Full (OTIF)
- Project Management experience demonstrating effective cost controls, risk mitigation techniques and scheduling accomplishments is required
- Proven leadership experience supporting and empowering employees is required as you build a culture that demonstrates the Curium values of Innovation, Commitment and Collaboration
- Exceptional written and verbal communications skills with the ability to compile concise and convincing documents and deliver dynamic presentations to multiple levels of the organization
- Ability to read and interpret various engineering documents (schematics, wiring diagrams, piping diagrams, blueprints, etc.) with an understanding of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems is a plus
- Experience negotiating contract terms and conditions
- Proficiency with computers and software, with a desire to learn new software applications to help drive improvement.
Working Conditions:
- Willingness to work in plant producing radioactive materials and requiring all employees to participate in safety programs designed to minimize potential and/or actual exposure levels.
- Responsibilities include the ability to lift up to 70 pounds, kneeling, crouching, twisting the upper body, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, reaching, must be able to physically negotiate stairs and evacuation ladders with or without accommodation, wear and operate safety equipment, enter vessels, and inspect equipment.
- Material handling devices (e.g., hand truck, fork truck, and conveyors) are used when possible, however, use of proper lifting and movement techniques is necessary to prevent injury.
- Must be willing to wear a variety of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and hearing protection as needed.
- May be required to sit or stand for long periods of 8+ hours a day while performing duties.
- Must possess good hand-eye coordination; close attention to detail is required.
- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors with exposure to mechanical/moving parts, hazards including corrosive, flammable and toxic material, dust, dirt, odors, and irritants.
- Willingness to complete safety training within allotted timeframes, and work in a team-based environment.
- Must be able to work outside of regular work hours, including off shift, weekend, and holiday work as business needs require.
