Summary of Position

The Senior Director of Accounting is responsible for closely monitoring all aspects of the financial health of the North American business, including developing an accounting organization with a mission to streamline budgeting, financial reporting, tax, treasury, credit and collections.  This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of North America and serves as the integral liaison with the Corporate offices in Paris, France and external auditors.

Essential Functions

  • Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior leadership by evaluating financial results, identifying and implementing opportunities for increased profitability, ensuring proper internal controls and compliance with policies; 
  • Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to current economic landscape;
  • In conjunction with the CFO, establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on a bi-weekly, monthly, and annual basis;
  • Prepare monthly reporting package, including submission into Corporate consolidation package per the Corporate timelines;
  • Continually review and monitor accounting practices to ensure actual results are accurate and compliant, with both International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP);
  • Manage all systems used within the Finance team to ensure these are effectively utilized to support appropriate reporting;
  • Manage the relationship with external auditors;
  • Lead acquisition integrations and new product development activities; and,
  • Act as back-up to CFO.

Requirements

  • A Masters in Business Administration (MBA) is preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with 12+ years of experience and  a strong understanding of GAAP; experience with IFRS a plus
  • Proven leadership experience, inspiring and empowering others to build a collaborative culture
  • An acute business acumen with an understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, including gross-to-net accounting
  • Exemplary history of financial project management with a strong continuous improvement mindset
  • Highly organized, ability to multi-task, prioritize work and meet strict deadlines
  • Possess high ethical standards and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills including the ability to deliver exemplary external and internal presentations
