Summary of Position

As the Principal Project Purchasing Agent you will have sourcing input and purchasing responsibility for different New Product Initiatives (NPI) projects and/or major engineering changes for existing products already in production. You are also the main liaison between the Supply Chain Engineer, Suppliers and Purchasing Team to gather all necessary documentation.

  • In coordination with the Supply Chain Engineer and Sourcing Manager, supports negotiations for new supplier agreements and/or contract negotiations including: inventory agreements, price negotiations, Market Rate of Demand (MRD), Two bin and Kanban systems, consignment, etc. to ensure Curium is supported by world-class suppliers delivering on time, at spec, and at the lowest total cost.
  • Collaborates with Sourcing Agents, Buyer and Supply Chain Engineer to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Collaborates with the Sourcing Manager to execute the supplier performance scorecard process.
  • Partners with Logistics/Compliance Manager to ensure compliance with all local, state and Federal regulations Hazmat, etc.
  • Duties as assigned to support other needs of the business 

Essential Functions

  • Ensure compliance to purchasing policies and requirements to properly document and transact the commitment of company funds for all goods and services.
  • Act as company representative for supplier contact and negotiation relating to price and delivery.
  • Resolve item discrepancies with respect to quantity and quality upon receipt and resolve with supplier.
  • Participate on cost reduction teams and strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategic sourcing initiatives for key project components suppliers.
  • Perform procurement activities within the Quality System guidelines.
  • Provide complete and accurate information to materials and purchasing groups for setting up bills of material in ERP system as items are transferred into maintenance of business.
  • Work with Quality teams to understand requirements for inspection, auditing and classification of item use in product.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline required
  • CPIM certification preferred
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in Sourcing/Purchasing/Procurement positions in a manufacturing environment, including 2 to 4 years of experience in New Products Development/Introduction/Contracts
  • Effective written and oral communication skills needed to deal with the technical and interpersonal aspects of the position
  • Superior negotiation skills including the ability to effectively interact with all levels of management both internally and externally, including cross functional teams
  • Hands-on work experience with complex negotiations, problem solving, strategic planning and financial analysis
  • Strong analytical skills are required including intermediate to advance MS Excel skills and proficiency in all MS Office Suite applications including Project, Vision, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Must thrive in an environment where multi-tasking is the norm
  • Ability/willingness to travel both domestically and internationally up to 10%
  • Experience in a highly regulated industry, i.e.  FDA, NRC, OSHA


Working Conditions

  • Willingness to work in a plant producing radioactive materials and requiring all employees to participate in safety programs designed to minimize potential and/or actual exposure levels.

  • Must be willing to wear a variety of personal protective equipment.
  • Willingness to work in a team-based environment
  • Close attention to detail required
  • May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time while performing duties
  • Must be able to work outside of regular work hours
  • Responsibilities also include the ability to lift, walk, bend, stoop, push, pull, reach, and climb stairs with or without accommodation 
  • Must possess good hand-eye coordination.
