Summary of Position

The Accounting Manager is primarily responsible for applying accounting principles to analyze financial information by performing the assigned duties as they relate to tax, treasury and the general ledger.

 

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm 

Essential Functions

  • Oversee and review daily accounting processes for tax, treasury, and various GL transactions.
  • Prepare and review journal entries as part of the monthly/quarterly/year ends.
  • Participate in annual financial audits by preparing audit materials and interacting with external auditors.
  • Assist with 1099s, personal property tax forms and all Canada tax requirements.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of the reported information.
  • Provide insightful commentary on company metrics and suggest areas of improvement.
  • Further develop existing accounting and management systems as well as new systems.
  • Instill proper internal controls and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Research GL detail and transactions to assist other departments on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline financial reporting processes, implement best practices, and identify efficiencies.
  • Ensure Fixed assets are closed and depreciation properly.
  • Support ad hoc projects and request as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance. Master Degree preferred.  CPA highly desired.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP with IFRS knowledge a plus.
  • 12 or more years of relevant experience required.
  • Some level of experience managing others.
  • Demonstrated capacity to handle diverse number of projects simultaneously.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with a multi-cultural and cross-functional team.
  • Independent, inquisitive and a self-starter.
  • Strong MS Office skills (i.e. Outlook, Teams, and Excel).
  • Understanding of business intelligence tool.

 

Working Conditions:

  • This position will work in typical office conditions with extensive time using personal computer equipment.
  • May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time while performing duties. 
  • Close attention to detail required.
  • Willingness to work in a team-based environment.
  • In office 4 days per week, 1 day hybrid.
  • The position deals with many deadlines. Due to the short turnaround time of deadlines and limited time, overtime is sometimes required.
