Summary of Position

The Cyclotron Chemistry Technician position produces the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient for cyclotron-based radiopharmaceuticals through purification of starting materials by means of chemical processing. This work is conducted in cGMP and NRC compliant laboratories utilizing advanced equipment in the creation of new products.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure a safe and quality working environment
  • Ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness of equipment
  • Train and qualify on the manufacturing processes of the area
  • Perform proper line clearances
  • Properly record data per SOPs and cGMP guidelines
  • Work according to SOPs and cGMP guidelines.
  • Work within the team environment and interact with other departments for operational success
  • Perform Batch Record calculations
  • Become proficient with using tele-manipulators
  • Accurately label products
  • Accurately count materials and labels
  • Use logical methods to solve problems with effective solutions and make quick quality decisions
  • Conduct postmortem reviews on delays, production issues and problems, determine lasting solutions
  • Awareness of FDA, NRC, ALARA, and OSHA requirements
  • Ability to elevate abnormalities within a process to leadership
  • Assist and support in investigations and process improvements
  • Participate in safety programs, committees, or teams
  • Prepare chemical solutions for processes, following standardized formulas
  • Follow both spoken and written directions
  • Communicate effectively, both written and verbally
  • Perform duties as assigned by leadership
  • Wiliness to be flexible and adaptable to the needs of the department and business
  • Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices, or products
  • Test products or sub-assemblies for functionality or quality
  • Start up and shut down processing equipment

Requirements

Associate Degree or completion of an equivalent certification program from a technical or vocational school is required. Equivalent relevant years of experience in this field of study will also be considered.
Three to five years of manufacturing chemistry experience is required, preferably in a pharmaceutical or similar industry.
Experience working in a FDA regulated cGMP environment is preferred.

 

Working Conditions

  • Willingness to work in plant producing radioactive materials and requiring all employees to participate in safety programs designed to minimize potential and/or actual exposure levels.
  • Responsibilities also include the ability to lift up to 70 pounds, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, twist upper body, push, pull, reach, and climb stairs and ladders with or without accommodation.
  • Must be willing to wear a variety of personal protective equipment.
  • May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time while performing duties.
  • Must be able to work outside of regular work hours, work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime, as necessary.
  • Willingness to work around mechanical and moving parts, around low and high voltages, with exposure to dust, dirt, odors and irritants.
  • Close attention to detail required and must possess good hand-eye coordination.
  • Willingness to work in a team-based environment.
