SUMMARY OF POSITION

 

The Senior Director Theranostics Portfolio Scientific Communications International provides strategic leadership for the international scientific communications strategy across the theranostics portfolio. The role partners closely with all Business Units, North America Medical Affairs, the Clinical Development team of Biopharma, and key international markets to support product launches, lifecycle management, and ensure alignment with the global scientific strategy.

The position is responsible for leading international (non-North America) Scientific Communications within Medical Affairs, overseeing the development and delivery of high-quality scientific and medical content for approved and investigational products. This includes driving publication strategy, congress communications, scientific messaging, and ensuring timely, compliant dissemination of medical information to internal and external stakeholders.

This position reports directly to the VP & Head of Medical Affairs International.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

1. Scientific Communications Strategy & Portfolio Leadership

  • Define and lead the international scientific communications strategy across the theranostics portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain the Scientific Communication Platform and key scientific message framework.
  • Partner with North America Medical Affairs to establish aligned publication strategies, evidence dissemination plans, and lifecycle communication activities.
  • Lead cross-functional development of scientific communication strategies with Clinical Development, Biopharma, CMOs, and other key functions.
  • Generate and leverage scientific insights to continuously optimize communication strategies.

 

2. Publications & Scientific Content Execution

  • Oversee execution of publication plans across the product lifecycle, including manuscripts, abstracts, posters, oral presentations, and publication amplifiers.
  • Lead scientific communications for major international congresses.
  • Ensure the timely development and dissemination of accurate, high-quality scientific, medical, and technical information.
  • Ensure all communications comply with legal, regulatory, and company standards.

 

3. Stakeholder Collaboration & Team Leadership

  • Build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders (Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Legal, Regulatory, medical experts, and professional societies).
  • Provide leadership to Scientific Communications Managers where applicable, or oversee external scientific communication partners and agencies.
  • Foster effective cross-functional collaboration to support strategic business objectives.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience(s)

  • Advanced degree in Life Sciences or Healthcare (MD, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent preferred).

 

  • 12+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, including Medical Affairs and scientific communications within global and international organizations. 
  • Experience supporting product launches and lifecycle management in an international environment.

 

Required skills

  • Strong expertise in scientific publications, medical communications, and medical education.

 

  • Proven ability to develop and execute scientific communication and publication strategies.

 

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex scientific data into clear, impactful messages.

 

  • Experience collaborating across cross-functional and global teams.

 

  • Familiarity with late-stage clinical development, regulatory processes, and HTA requirements across major markets.

 

Preferred skills / Soft skills

  • Experience in both large pharmaceutical and biotech organizations.

 

  • Strong strategic thinking, business acumen, and project leadership skills.

 

  • Ability to prioritize effectively and thrive in a fast-paced, matrix environment.

 

  • Sound understanding of pharmaceutical compliance and ethical standards. 
  • Multilingual capabilities are an advantage.

 

Salary range 

120-150 K
